Fall Quarter News
Last week, the Literary Journalism major at UC Irvine held a reading and reception in the university bookstore honoring exceptional stories and articles from the previous year. Student and Faculty editors selected my narrative "Chasing War" to lead off this year's issue of our program's literary magazine, Kiosk.
Also, just before that--if you hadn't seen it, my piece in Newsweek went live during Veterans week.
On an slightly related topic, I went to the VA in March for PTSD. That's progressing and you'll soon see what has come of that...
Lastly, I graduate in June, just 3.5 years after I went back to school. Unfortunately, I face the challenge and question of, "what's next?"
I've done a lot of soul searching in the last six weeks, especially after what happened to Brian in September, and I've decided that whatever I do, my cameras will be a part of it. In fact, there's a pretty nifty job I want... which leads to a saying that I've heard and can very much relate to: "I hate writing, but I love having written."
In my next post, you'll see why.

Yes, once the writing ordeal is over, you have results. Congratulations, time flies when you are flying through a degree program and everything else at the same time.
Did this make it to a documentary or special of some kind? I've seen you giving your reading somewhere....

This was in my garage--the video of me reading for Newsweek.
