Stoploss Backpay Compensation Update 3

by 13 Stoploss

Dear Jason Davis,

Regarding Retroactive Stop Loss Payment Case Number RSLXXXXXXXX-XX for Army Service Member Jason Davis.

Your claim has been checked against the Official Military Personnel File (OMPF), after initial review, the months claimed are not in agreement. A Case Manager will review your submission. This will require additional time to process your claim.

Please do not reply to this unmonitored mailbox, to contact the Help Desk send e-mail to RetroStopLossPay@conus.army.mil

---------------------------

On a side note, someone had googled this and found this blog:

"your claim has been checked against the official military personnel file (ompf), your ssn does not appear on the master list of service members that were "stop lossed"."

Holy fuck. Dude just emailed me, too. That's why it's important to keep documentation. Stoploss Ryan, make sure your DD214 has that "kept ____ days at the expense of the government" clause. If so, you should be good to go, in time, after some haggling.

Found this page through google. I received a similar email today, although mine claimed my name wasn't on some type of master list of stop lossed service members, despite the fact that I already received stop loss pay for my time after Oct 08. Gotta love army record keeping. Nice page man, drive on.

Yep, keep everything where you can find it. Veterans used to put their DD214s on file in county courthouse so that certified copies could be produced when needed. VA required them for all kinds of stuff.

Your DD214 will keep you warm many times. Any change in rank or pay grade (perhaps recalculation of dates of servie?) can cause a lag in the system because of a need to update databases. Especially with reserves and guard. Usually one data system has issurs playing well enough with another.

If you have not seen the movie Brazil, I highly recommend it. But you have to be in the right mood to watch it.

The correspondence mainly tells you that they have your correct addresses. And you already know that they have your checking account number right. The most important part :>)

My husband just got the same email (months not in agreement). I dont know how they arent in agreement, except he changed his contract before swearing in for the last time, so it might have something to do with that.

I also find it interesting that if i recall you put yours in around the 21st.My husband didnt submit his until the 26th but the emails were presumably sent around the same time. Maybe this is just an effort to give them more time, while making it look like something is being accomplished.

I got the "months not in agreement" too. So have all my other stop-lossed friends. Looks like either an error or a stall tactic (either are equally likely in my experience with the Army). You've all probably seen this already if you found this blog, but check out the comments in this link:

Dashed are my hopes of getting the cash before Christmas.

I'll chime in that I received the same e-mail. Interesting that while I was clearing Campbell so many people talked about the DD 214 being the most sacred document to keep because that is what all later information is based off of. Too good to be true.

I had the same thought as Daniel - error or stall. Lets hope its the former, but were I a bettin' gal I'd bet on the latter. It's kinda the rule when dealing with money owed, even in the civilian world.

Something I hear from my son is that gvt money is doled out it increments and they sometimes have to wait until the next period to continue with work on the ships they're assigned to. I'd bet they're waiting until 2010.

KathyB is right - DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT. You, your wife, your kids. Everything. Always.

Okay, update:

It looks like the Army says only 10% of applications match their records. Wow. 90% of us are idiots, or... the Army is tore-up. Hmm...

Actually, I found another link. I'm just going to keep my updates on reddit here:

The link is from the same source, but has new information (see update 2).
